Rush Drummer Neil Peart Dies at 67: Reports

Rolling Stone is reporting Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for rock band Rush, has died at age 67.

Despite being a world-famous drummer, Peart told Rolling Stone that he still took drum lessons as recently as 2012. Lifeson announced Rush's dissolution three years later.

Peart was widely considered one of the best drummers in rock history, with a flamboyant yet utterly precise style.

Peart was born on September 12, 1952 in Ontario, Canada and went on to join Rush at the age of 22, making his debut with the band on their 1975 album Fly By Night. "It's a joyous one and one I'm very grateful for". "As far as I was concerned, he was hired from the minute he started playing". Rush also ranks 79th in U.S. album sales with 25 million units.

Rush finished their final tour in 2015, after which Neil wanted to spend more time with his family. He also wrote several books about his life and travels.
