Three days after Phoebe Waller-Bridge's late Amazon comedy swept the Emmys, season-two breakout Andrew Scott (aka "Sizzling Priest" on the present) has firmed up a deal to star as ebook and movie character Tom Ripley for a Showtime sequence primarily based on Patricia Highsmith's novels.

Based on Patricia Highsmith's bestselling quintet of Tom Ripley novels and from Oscar and Golden Globe victor and Emmy nominee Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List, The Night Of), the new drama tells the story of Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s NY.

Both vessel operators charged in fatal Lake Joseph crash
A NY man operating the other boat, Richard Ruh, 57, has also been charged with failing to exhibit navigation lights. Both boats quickly left the scene to seek medical attention on shore, said Provincial Police Constable Joe Scali.

Zaillian will write and direct the whole first season of Ripley, which follows the titular character from 1960s NY to Italy after he's employed by a rich man to retrieve his vagabond son and return him to America.

Ripley will cover five of Highsmith's novels - including The Talented Mr. Ripley, which inspired the 1999 Matt Damon film - with Steven Zaillian (The Night Of) serving as writer and director of all eight episodes.

'Howdy Houston!' says PM as he arrives to packed itinerary
Some 120,000 Indian-Americans live in the Houston area, and they are by no means united in their feelings about Modi, he says . It will also feature a 90-minute cultural programme with audio feed in English, Hindi, and Spanish.

Andrew Scott has been forged in a brand new TV adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's Tom Ripley novels. Ripley's acceptance of the job is the first step into a life of deceit, fraud and murder. Aside from Ripley, his upcoming projects include His Dark Materials and Modern Love. He also wrote and directed the films All the King's Men, A Civil Action and Searching for Bobby Fischer.

Scott rightfully earned tons of praise (and swoons across the world) for his work in Fleabag, but you may also recognize him from his turn as Moriarty on the BBC's Sherlock and his appearance in the most recent James Bond movie, Spectre. His writing credits also include "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", "The Interpreter", "Hannibal", "Clear and Present Danger", and "The Falcon and the Snowman". Showtime Digital Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SNI, operates the stand-alone streaming service SHOWTIME (R). SNI markets and distributes sports and entertainment events for exhibition to subscribers on a pay-per-view basis through SHOWTIME PPV.
